Upon arrival, begin exploring Luxor’s legendary East Bank with the magnificent Karnak Temple Complex, one of the largest religious complexes ever constructed. Built and expanded by generations of pharaohs over many centuries, Karnak was the great religious heart of ancient Thebes.

Begin your exploration with a boat journey to the magnificent Philae Temple, dedicated principally to the goddess Isis. Set beautifully on Agilkia Island, the temple is remarkable not only for its elegant columns and ancient reliefs, but also for its extraordinary modern story. During the UNESCO-led Nubian rescue campaign, the temple complex was carefully dismantled and reconstructed on higher ground to protect it from the rising waters of the Nile.

Continue to the Aswan High Dam, one of the most significant engineering projects in modern Egyptian history, and learn how its construction transformed the Nile and led to the creation of vast Lake Nasser.

Your exploration then takes you to the ancient granite quarries and the enormous Unfinished Obelisk. Still attached to the bedrock, it offers a fascinating glimpse into the techniques ancient Egyptian craftsmen used to create monuments of extraordinary scale. Had it been completed, it would have been the largest known ancient Egyptian obelisk.

Explore the magnificent Great Temple of Ramesses II, guarded by four colossal statues of the pharaoh, and discover its impressive halls, detailed reliefs and remarkable ancient engineering. After your visit, return to Aswan and transfer to Aswan International Airport for your domestic flight to Cairo.
